Bioluminescence is the production of light by a living organism. Deep-sea creatures use biolumines-cence to attract mates, capture prey, and evade predators. Bioluminescent organisms are fascinating because they are visually stunning and have the potential to aid discoveries in the fields of energy- production and medical diagnostics.
This interactive installation showcases the fascinating capabilities of bioluminescent organisms. A study in biomimicry, the glowing jellyfish units (wired with Arduino proximity sensors) respond to passersby by luminescing. As a jellyfish glows brighter, the installation projects facts about bioluminescence on the floor below the jellyfish.
